Aneurysmectomy is a surgical procedure to remove an aneurysm, which is a weakened area in a blood vessel that bulges or dilates. The term is derived from:

  • Aneurysm: A weakened area in a blood vessel
  • Ectomy: Removal or excision

Therefore, aneurysmectomy literally means "removal of an aneurysm."
