A laryngoscope is a medical instrument used to visualize the larynx (voice box) and upper airway, consisting of a handle and a blade with a light source. It is primarily used in the procedure called laryngoscopy, which can diagnose conditions like hoarseness or cancer, or assist in procedures such as endotracheal intubation. There are two main types: direct laryngoscopes which are rigid, and flexible laryngoscopes with a camera, often used for more detailed views or difficult airways.
