Lymphoid tissues and lymphoid organs are involved in immune response
• Tissues include the tonsils, adenoids, Peyer patches, and appendix
• Organs include the thymus and spleen
– Thymus helps lymphoblasts from red marrow mature into T lymphocytes
– Spleen recycles erythrocytes, stores whole blood, and contains B and T lymphocytes

The lymphatic system consists of lymphatic vessels, lymph fluid, lymph nodes, lymphoid tissues (tonsils and adenoids in the throat and Peyer patches and appendix in the intestines), and lymphoid organs (thymus and spleen).

White blood cells produced by the red bone marrow are part of the immune response of the lymphatic system.
